I personally have seen little sun lately, but many films. i saw a great documentary on margaret leng tan, player of the toy piano. i have also been making brooches and pins, which have been snatched up like little hotcakes. I'm making plans to expand interstate, but have been delayed by the films. soon, soon...

hermitage.

studious
Originally uploaded by little nemo in slumberland.
i have been hiding out in my incredibly tidy studio cutting out perspex. hundreds o wee beasties.

i dreamt that water was pouring through my bedroom ceiling; i thought that must be because of the spa bath my upstairs neighbours have above my room [not in real life] I went upstairs to complain and when they opened the door I could see into a house that had no resemblance to the real upstairs. Being almost awake the sensible bit of my brain disagreed and replaced this image with something closer to reality; the subconscious switched back to its grandiose version. A brief battle ensued where the two images switched back and forth faster and faster, like some japanese cartoon series, with a radio static noise that became unbearably intense.

i thought my brain might explode, so I stopped fighting. Having won, my subconcious continued with some ridiculous story about the upstairs neighbours.

the film festival starts tomorrow. i shall be somewhat distracted for a while.

call of the orient

jonny is on his way back to macau, susan wants to too, i'm kind of tempted, but have a lot of things going on here that maybe i shouldn't leave, so it might be good if they don't ask me. I'm enjoying making stuff and a liking getting more serious about it, the thing that pleases me about jewelling as opposed to art is that if you have a good idea you can keep repeating it as long as people want it and it's fine to make stuff that is just pretty and nothing else. i went out and found myself press-ganged onto the pirate ship of drunkeness again; boarding gallery openings, looting the dumpling house, dancing jigs to motown soul at cherry. All like a bad headachy dream this morning. I gave kate her polar bear today, she was happy, we walked in the garden of contemplation [an actual place, not a cheesy metaphor].
called real estate about shop. susan is very excited by the idea, but if she goes to macau for 3 months then it might not happen. that would be ok too, i suppose.

rrr

aha, a gif without artefacts.
today I figured out how to make a badge using my tiny polar bears. The polar bears are too large to fit into the little test tubes i use for the other pins. I was looking at my new watch glasses and realised that they would be perfect if i could somehow make a frame. i thought that if i made it out of perspex i could glue the pin on and fit the watch glasses relatively easily. there are a number of other interesting tiny animals that this approach could be applied to. giraffes, monkeys, ligers...

i might open a shop. my friend susan and i have been discussing it, we like the idea.

i won my ebay auction the other day. i'm more inclined to see the person getting my money as the winner...

hard yards [well, maybe just the one]

haven't done a lick of work since macau.
got a couple of days moving crawford productions [cop shop, all the rivers run, henderson kids etc] spent ten hours lifting heavy things onto trucks and stacking pallets, had to get up at 6am to be at work at 7.30. all a bit of a shock. sore sore sore.
$20 an hour, so less poor too.
bed time for me; i have to get up soon...
